In joint venture with Clark Construction, the Clark Blinderman team constructed a 6-story barracks facility at Naval Station Great Lakes, the Navy’s largest training installation. Our innovative design prioritizes visual security, durability, energy efficiency, and aesthetics. The facility meets Green Globe standards, focusing on energy efficiency, a healthy indoor environment, and resource conservation.
The strategic “T” shaped building footprint allows for future expansion, while the foundation system and exterior envelope balance complex structural needs with energy efficiency and durability. Interior finishes emphasize efficient circulation and create a central hub to major common areas and amenities. The barracks accommodates 308 Naval Education Training Center dormitory units, housing E1, E2, and E3 level recruits.
The facility includes both exterior parade grounds and interior training spaces, featuring a main training hall with a customizable modular wall system. The HVAC system uses Variable Air Volume (VAV) technology and electronically controlled motors, promoting energy conservation. The integrated telecommunications system covers data, voice, security systems, and cable television.
Fire protection and life safety systems comply with the latest standards, featuring an addressable combination fire alarm and mass notification system, ensuring efficient emergency response. The interoperability of these systems is crucial to the facility’s safety strategy.
