Fox Development Center

Blinderman is proud to be a part of a successful historical masonry restoration project at Fox Development Center, a mental health facility in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. The project focused on preserving historical integrity and ensuring structural stability through a comprehensive scope of work.

Diligent tuckpointing was performed to restore deteriorated mortar joints, and damaged bricks were expertly replaced, maintaining the building's historical authenticity. We addressed expansion joint concerns with precision, allowing for controlled movement and safeguarding against potential structural issues. Additionally, our restoration specialists skillfully replaced damaged or aged terra cotta elements, ensuring a seamless integration with the original design.

Comprehensive lintel flashing and waterproofing measures were implemented to protect the masonry from moisture infiltration and maintain its long-term stability. With careful attention to historic preservation, we professionally managed window removal and replacement, installing modern, energy-efficient windows that complemented the building’s historical character.  Blinderman Construction self-performed both window replacement and roof repairs.

The project is scheduled for completion in Summer 2024.

The successful completion of this masonry restoration project at Fox Development Center reflects our commitment to excellence in craftsmanship and historic preservation, providing the facility with enhanced aesthetics, structural integrity, and longevity.
