Blinderman Concrete was engaged by the developer to conduct sounding investigation of structural deficiencies in an existing parking garage slated to be converted to a 72-unit, mixed-use development.
This structure dates back to 1928 and showed severe structural degradation, due to nearly a century of use as a parking structure. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the project team identified areas of concern throughout the structure. In consultation with the Engineer of Record, the Blinderman Concrete Division performed the major concrete work, including full-depth concrete repairs, structural beam replacement, and column strengthening. Despite challenges, the team was able to complete the work while allowing all tenants to maintain normal operations. As a result of these efforts, the owner was able to move forward with their renovation of the structure, which included a two-story vertical addition to the building.
