This existing 4-level, 400-space parking garage below the Westin Waterfront Hotel in Boston’s Seaport District serves guests from both the Westin Hotel and Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC).
The parking garage is an integral component of the original hotel structure, and is mainly constructed of post-tensioned concrete, with conventionally reinforced concrete elements. The below-grade garage has developed severe structural cracking throughout and requires supplemental post-tension reinforcement. In addition to addressing these concerns, Blinderman Is replacing severely degraded traffic coatings on the elevated decks, installing silane sealer to on-grade areas, replacing all drains within the work areas, and providing crack injection at the below-grade slurry walls to address existing water management and infiltration issues. In order to accommodate the large volume of traffic in the garage every day, this project will be phased over three years to minimize disruption.
